CIGRE and the Energy Transition (in English)

Dr. Papailiou studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig and earned his doctorate at ETH Zurich. He is Honorary Professor at the Technical University of Dresden in High-Voltage Overhead Lines and was Chief Executive Officer of the Pfisterer Group until 2011. From 2010 to 2016 he chaired the CIGRE Study Committee on Overhead Lines. Author of more than one hundred scientific papers and several books, including the “Springer Handbook of Power Systems” and the monography (with Frank Schmuck), “Silicone Composite Insulators”. He is presently President of CIGRE.
