From Innovative Cable System Design to Service Experience: Building the Future Grid (in English)

Dr. Zuijderduin has 20 years of experience in high-voltage cable systems. He graduated from Delft University of Technology with a degree in High Voltage Power Systems and subsequently completed his PhD at the same university, focusing on the integration of superconducting cable systems into the Dutch high-voltage grid. Prior to joining TenneT, Roy worked at DNV as a consultant on both offshore and onshore cable projects. His responsibilities ranged from system design and engineering to quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC). Currently, Roy is employed by the Dutch transmission system operator TenneT as an Asset Specialist for Cable Systems. In this role, he is responsible for coordinating and aligning new policies, standards, and technical specifications. He focuses on ensuring the quality and reliability of cable systems while maintaining strong partnerships across the supply chain. In support of the energy transition, Roy contributes to the development of the future Dutch (E)HV grid (“Target Grid”) by evaluating, integrating, and validating emerging technologies and innovative solutions.
