Advances in Surge Arrester Condition Assessment & Monitoring: EPRI Research (in English)

Christiaan Engelbrecht works as a subject matter expert for EPRI in the USA and as an associate for DNV in the Netherlands. His main fields of interest are dimensioning of external insulation, high-voltage testing and procedures for insulation coordination, with special emphasis on the lightning performance of overhead lines, application and condition monitoring of surge arresters as well as the contamination performance of insulators. He has published several technical papers and served as convener of Cigre C4.23 “Guide to procedures for estimating the lightning performance of transmission lines” and Cigre C4.303 “Outdoor Insulation in polluted Conditions: Guidelines for Selection and dimensioning”.
