Preventive Diagnostics for Substation Equipment: Advances in Power Transformer Bushing Assessment (in English)

Hyungjun Ju, Ph.D., is a Senior Researcher in the Substation Solutions Team at the KEPCO Research Institute, with 25 years of expertise in preventive diagnostics and reliability engineering for substation equipment. He pioneered advanced partial discharge diagnostic systems for gas-insulated switchgear and large power transformers and developed the core framework of KEPCO’s Substation Equipment Diagnostic & Analysis (SEDA) platform, which supports automated grid diagnostics and asset management. Most recently, Dr. Ju invented an innovative transformer-bushing diagnostic device now undergoing a KEPCO pilot program and joint international field trials with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) in the United States. He holds a Ph.D. in Power and Automation Engineering from Chungnam National University in South Korea.
