Biography

Insulator Failure During Arc Furnace Energization: A Case Study in Transformer–Power System Interaction (in English & Portuguese)

Angélica da Costa Oliveira Rocha earned her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Brazil. Soon after, she joined Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais (CEMIG), being responsible for the area of studies on electromagnetic transients and power quality. Since 2013, she has been an independent consultant in the field of power systems with special focus on equipment failure analysis. Angelica has been an active member of CIGRE. She has been Brazil’s representative on the Cigre C4 System Reliability Committee and is currently Brazil’s representative on the Cigre A2 Transformer and Reactor committee. Angelica was the convener of JWG A2/C4.34 “Transient interaction between transformer and the power system” and has received A2 Technical Award as well as Cigre Women in Energy Award.
